| DIRECT TV, the nation's largest satellite TV provider is expanding its local high-definition footprint again by adding new markets in Greenville-Spartanburg SC-Asheville, NC, Harrisburg-Lancaster, PA, Jacksonville FL-Brunswick, GA and Spokane, WA.
With this expansion, DIRECT TV satellite TV will now offers local HD broadcast channels in 53 cities. That represents more than 67 percent of U.S. TV households.
By years end, DIRECTV plans to offer up to 100 national channels in up to 75 markets. When this agressive expansion is complete in 2008, DIRECT TV will be able to offer more than 1,500 local HD channels and more than 150 national HD channels to its subscriber base. So DIRECTV customers will now have the most HD available anywhere.
DIRECT TV satellite TV customers who subscribe to an HD programming package that includes local channels will receive both the standard-definition and HD signals. Additional equipment required to receive these channels includes either an H20 HD receiver or the new HR20 DIRECTV Plus HD DVR with satellite TV dish. New customers can take advantage of a limited-time $100 mail-in rebate on all DIRECTV HD and HD-DVR receivers.
