| DIRECT TV satellite TV announced on May 3, 2006 that they will debut a new educational channel for babies and toddlers in a week. The channel will launch nationally and exclusively on DIRECTV May 11, and it will be exclusive to DIRECT TV for 30 days. After that, it will be available to other cable and satellite companies.
A spokes person for the network declined to comment on who is behind the network, or what its name is, although rumor has it that it is being created by child-development experts.
There will be a press conference on the launch date, May 11, in New York to uncover the details of the commercial-free channel.
The new channel will have programming “designed to meet the unique developmental needs of babies up to three years,” with content that offers “a unique co-viewing opportunity for parent and child, designed to engage parents in the viewing experience,” according to the invite to the press conference. |
