| XM's infamous duo is back on DIRECT TV satellite TV as of April 26, 2006. DIRECTV said that after many requests from fans of the Opie and Anthony show, available on XM's High Voltage XL channel, it returned the channel to its audio lineup. DIRECT TV said it removed High Voltage last week in an effort to take its XM radio service to a 100% commercial-free music format.
"The uproar from fans, pleading with us to put Opie and Anthony back on the air, was deafening to say the least," said Dan Fawcett, executive vice president of programming acquisition at DIRECTV. "And though our original intent was to focus our XM service on more music, we now understand the passionate following that Opie and Anthony have and we're happy to bring them back on board in an expanded format."
High Voltage XL is available on XM channel 879 for customers who subscribe to the DIRECTV TOTAL CHOICE® PLUS or TOTAL CHOICE® PREMIER packages. In addition to XM's exclusive Opie & Anthony show, DIRECT TV satellite TV will also broadcast a new three-hour version of the show airing simultaneously on CBS Radio and XM. |
