| DIRECT TV satellite TV is preparing to unveil their second, and improved, HD DVR later this month. More than a year in the making, the new MPEG-4 HD DVR will replace the current DIRECTV HD DVR as the DIRECTV's high-end HD DVR unit. According to DIRECT TV, the new HD DVR will be introduced in Los Angeles later this month with a nationwide rollout coming in the following weeks. DIRECTV’s plan for the upcoming years includes using three new satellites to carry a lot more stations in HD, including local channels in many major U.S. markets.
