| XM Satellite Radio and Porsche North America have inked a deal to equip Porsche's vehicles in the U.S. market with the XM service. The arrangement is reported to begin in 2007.
XM Satellite Radio has been available as a factory-installed feature for the Cayenne models since 2005 and will be the exclusive Satellite Radio option for Porsche in the future. Under the deal, XM Satellite Radio will be available for the other Porsche models soon. Consumers who purchase a Porsche with XM will receive a complimentary three-month subscription to the service. XM will also develop satellite-delivered data services for Porsche models. These other services are expected to include the XM NavTraffic real-time traffic data service witch is currently available in 44 major markets nationwide.
Sirius Satellite Radio has signed an exclusive deal with Bentley Motors to provide Satellite Radio services. Beginning mid-2007, Sirius Satellite Radio will be available in select Bentley models in the U.S. and will become a standard feature in the Continental GT, Continental GTC and Continental Flying Spur models beginning in 2008.
To counter XM's announcement of their deal with Porsche, all of the customers who buy a Bentley equipped with Sirius will receive a lifetime subscription to the Satellite Radio service. Bentley customers can now place orders for vehicles with Sirius Satellite Radio for delivery in early 2007.
